Hearings set for December 7 on five individuals charged in a federal indictment from Kansas City alleging conspiracy to bomb a mobile home and run a gambling and prostitution ring near St Robert Missouri close to Fort Leonard Wood. The case names Robert Carson William Carson James Cole Vernon Phelps and Herbert Southard plus seven others charged earlier.

Democratic leaders settled on Kansas City Missouri as the site for a December 1974 mini conv ention to approve a party charter and showcase 1974 election gains and 1976 presidential prospects. The Dec 6 8 gathering will host just over 2000 delegates and about 500 alternates with most delegates elected next year.

Three men sentenced in Ridgeway bank robbery case
Three Kansas City men were sentenced in St. Joseph federal court for the October 9 Farmers National Bank of Ridgeway robbery. David Zeldon got 15 years for armed robbery and 10 years for kidnapping, to run concurrently. Michael Neilson and Robert Fulton, both 17 and 16, received 10 years on each count, to run concurrently. The teens’ earlier sentences were voided on a legal technicality. They kidnapped a bank vice president and forced him to open the safe, escaping with about 2800 dollars before FBI agents captured them at a Des Moines airport.

Moberly Wins Speech Trophy at Toastmasters Meet

Beautification plan eyed for Jefferson City cityscape
A 7:30 p.m. session by Skidmore Owings and Merrill in the Gold Room of the Missouri Baptist Building launches a two year beautification survey. Roger Seitz and George Dickey will meet civic groups to outline the survey scope and gather input. City Council approves a $23 000 study to produce a final plan for the visual environment including street trees, CBD and boulevard improvements, riverfront development and tourist facilities. Sam Cook says the aim is a blueprint for a beautiful and livable Jefferson City. The event is open to the public and hosted by the Environmental Quality Commission the Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Jefferson City Committee.

Two Die in Missouri Highway Crashes
Two persons were killed in Missouri traffic crashes on Tuesday. Mrs. Juanita Manahan, 77, Irwin, died when the car she rode in ran off Route D0 near Lamar and struck an embankment. Her husband John J. Manahan, 77, Irwin, had facial cuts and was treated at Barton County Hospital. William Moore, 53, Oak Grove, died when his car collided with an oncoming vehicle on Interstate 70 near Jackson County after wet pavement caused a slide. Roszena Smith, 30, St. Louis, suffered serious injuries. her children Velicia Smith, 8, and Richard Smith, 4, had head injuries.
