Missouri reported 18 traffic deaths during the Thanksgiving counting period from 6 p.m. Wednesday to midnight Sunday, with no fatalities on Sunday. Last year 23 died in similar holiday period. The report names Grady Wagner, 62, Deering, as a fatality on Saturday.

Albert DeSalvo, who confessed to being the Boston Strangler, was found stabbed to death in his prison hospital cell in Walpole Massachusetts. He had retracted his confession and was never convicted of the 13 killings. authorities cited multiple stab wounds with no weapon found. The case had drawn global attention and linked to a wide nurse and hospital worker victim set within 26 miles of Boston.

Three inmates from the Algoa Reformatory Overpowered a guard with a broomstick Sunday afternoon escaping in their underwear. They were found about three miles from the reform school near the Moreau River after a patrol plane spotted them. The men Terry Daniels Eugene Carl Owery and Kenneth R Turner were identified. the guard received stitches.
A series of storms across southern Missouri killed five people and damaged homes. In Eminence Shannon County a tornado ripped a mobile home, killing Lucille Nichols 55 her son Henry 26 and grandson Terry 10, with granddaughter Darlene Nichols 8 injured. Near Clarkton Dunklin County an elderly couple Robert Miller 64 and Ruth Miller 68 died when high winds destroyed their home, four mobile homes and a house were wrecked northeast of Clarkton with no further injuries.
