Man 14 killed in box target practice shooting
In Missouri a 14 year old, Raymond Schwarz, was fatally shot while hiding in large cardboard boxes in a quarry near Lemay. Chester Clark, 27, claimed he fired for target practice with a .22 rifle and was detained for the coroner. Clark and his brother in law, 25, helped transport the injured boy. Ex Teacher Sees 50-Year-Ago Students At Rural PTA Show
Vernon School former teacher Mrs. J W McFarland 75 Eldon hardly recognized eight former students who appeared in a program by adults at a four mile southeast rural elementary PTA meeting. About 100 attendees filled the one room schoolhouse for a 90 minute event featuring three plays recitations songs and reminiscences of old days. Thirteen elders who attended the school 50 or more years ago plus five more from 40+ years ago joined the group. The gathering recalled the little red schoolhouse beside Saline creek road and the present white building 30 years old. Social hour and refreshments followed the program led by T E Lake.

Mokane resident Walter F Roewe age 38 pleaded guilty to driving a truck over the legal weight limit. Magistrate Foster S Wheatly ordered a $20 fine plus costs after Roewe was ticketed by the State Highway Patrol on Highway 63 November 14. The patrol reported the truck was 700 pounds over the 14 000 pound axle limit. Raymond E Schaefer 44 of St Louis also pleaded guilty to passing another vehicle on a hill with limited view and was fined 35 plus costs after patrol arrest on Highway 54 south yesterday.
