Washington, Nov. 21 AP Senate investigators heard that profits exceeding 4 million dollars were made within weeks by bankers backing General Theater Equipment Inc. Murray Dodge testified a 350000 share bloc bought at 20 each was sold to the public at 25 within nine days. The group included Pynchon, West, Hammons, Halsey Stuart, Chase Securities and Shermar, Albert Wiggin’s personal firm. The venture later led to a half million in denture profits as bonds were sold at 499. General Theater Equipment is now in servicer.
Lawmakers clash over proposed sales tax measures to fund public schools and bolster state finances. Some call for a single bill, others push for a one per cent tax as a path to unemployment relief. Representatives Wiley Whitecatton Iffing Maples weigh fairness and feasibility as the House adjourns for the American Royal Live Stock Show.
Sheriff Frank Moore investigates an attempted bombing at the R. J. Williams home in Clathe Kansas. A crude device containing shot and a mouse trap exploded on the porch last night but caused no damage after Mrs. Williams kicked it away.

He linked liberal farm mortgage appraisals in Illinois and Missouri with a hoped for relief, predicting a new deal for middlewestern farmers and noting whiskey production could resume after repeal of the eighteenth amendment.
Major Fordney reported a balloon landing at 7:58 p m navigators time in marshy ground near South Jersey after a flight with Commander Settle. He said the height reached 59 000 feet though official checks are pending and some photo plates and accessories were lost. The landing was described as a normal ballooning operation.
Heraclio Rodriguez, acting pro secutor of the federal district, ordered police in border towns to arrest American actor Lee Tracy who had left by train for Laredo Texas after being held in custody since Sunday and questioned on a complaint that he offended public morals.
News of Lieut. Comdr. T. G. W. Settle’s safe Bridgeton landing sparks shock and relief. In Bridgeton crowds gather as government planes circle the site while Mrs Settle and Mrs Fordney express joy, noting the flight’s uncertainty and the usual postflight telegrams.
