A large Capital Citizens group plans to attend the Notre Dame Oklahoma game in South Bend Indiana. Former Rail Executive Dies in Springfield

Fred U H Shaffer, 70, former Frisco Railroad vice president and chief operations officer, died last night after a 41 day hospital stay. His 50 plus year railroad career included 32 years with Frisco, joining in 1918 as transportation inspector in St. Louis and later serving as superintendent of the eastern division, assistant general manager, general manager, and ultimately vice president in charge of operations until 1948.
