President Hoover proclaims a national day of thanksgiving for abundant harvests and prosperity for capital and labor. The statement cites peace at home and abroad, progress against disasters, and growth in education and public health, urging all to gather and share blessings.

The Bank of Whitewater in Cape Girardeau County near 15 miles from Cape Girardeau was closed by its board and will be liquidated. President William Fingerhut said a stockholders meeting last night showed the bank was not making money after a two year reorganization that capitalized at $10,000 and deposits of $27,000.
President Hoover averted a diplomatic stumble by sending a letter to Senator Johnson of California acknowledging an inadvertent omission from a White House dinner honoring Ambassadors Dawes and Guglheim. Hoover stressed the lapse was due to a mistake in invitations and expressed regret. O Doebrinner and daughter Gladys plan a month in San Diego California with Mrs. Elizabeth Stanton.
Prince Maximilian von Baden, the last imperial German chancellor, died in Constance after a year of illness from arterial trouble. He announced the Kaiser’s abdication and helped negotiate the World War I armistice terms with Wilson and Allied leaders. His memoirs recount the empire’s final days and the emperor’s warning about influenza.
Prince Max announced his farewell to socialist leader Ebert after offering to act as regent. Ebert replied that the Reich had already suffered losses. In St Louis reports say poison tests on the Reppy twins found no poison in viscera, while two other Reppy children were ill.
