A Kansas House committee voted unanimously to impeach Attorney General Roland Boynton and State Auditor Will J. French over ties to the Kansas forged bond scandal. The panel said the officials failed to exercise proper care in dealings with Ronald Finney, the Emporia bond buyer now facing state and federal charges in the $1,000,000 forgery case involving municipal bonds and warrants.
A legislative committee report details allegations against Finney and French including donations to Boynton's campaign, improper banking deals, and deputies receiving favors. Hearings will be held with Boynton and French allowed to defend themselves as the Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep Bloss, takes up the matter.
