Mrs. Preston Lloyd in Croesbeck Texas showcases cat tails as a mattress and quilt filler. She notes cat tail tint is light, launders easily, fluffing to resemble wool batting when sunned and provides warmth akin to wool.
The Negro First Baptist church of Raleigh has purchased a bus to bring 309 children to Sunday School. It will collect students from as far as three miles outside the city limits. The church is 124 years old.

In Athena Oregon on May 21 AP Farm Editor Paul D Shoemaker reports straw whisker dams as a new, inexpensive method to control water runoff and erosion in gullies. Farmers dig a shallow sip, insert straw ends, cover with soil, forming dams two to four feet apart to slow flow and trap silt.
In Jersey City on May 21 AP reports 17-year-old Gladys Macknight nearly collapsed as her lawyer said she would testify she did not kill her mother and would accuse co defendant Donald Wightman, 14, of wielding the hatchet in a fatal kitchen struggle. The girl would claim she only learned of the fatal events after her mother collapsed in her arms.
A crowded Galena stockade scene followed the execution of Jackson as the hangman’s knot dangled. The condemned man, with his father and supporters nearby, received last rites from a Maynard minister while lawyers and sheriffs observed. Local residents and nearby Ozark counties gathered, some peering through doors as a ceremonial crowd watched the hanging.
The station lists a full day of programs from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. including music shows Morning Melodies Aunt Lou's Household Chat and Evening Melodies, plus News segments at 8:00 and 12:00. In Jackson Missouri a 40 year old Mississippi man Dudley Barr known as Hardface died on the gallows in the New Jackson county jail after being sentenced for the Milton slaying. Barr embraced Catholicism and faced the trap with no emotion as deputies executed the sentence.
May 21 AP report says incendiary bombs hit the Basque yacht Goixeka Izarra carrying refugees from Bilbao. Insurgent communique claims the blaze occurred somewhere in the Bay of Biscay and that refugees were bound for England or Bordeaux. A larger ship Habana was chosen to move 4,000 Bilbao children to Southampton.
INDEPENDENCE Missouri May 21 UP For 44 years Fielding 5 Neal and his wife lived happily raised 11 children Then they began to quarrel That was ten years ago For two more years they lived together unhappily then they were separated divorced Mrs Neal went to Nevada married Johnson P Wyatt but still wasnt happy Today she and her first husband were reunited and happy again They were remarried yesterday at the courthouse He is 74 his bride 70 Mrs Neal said she divorced Wyatt at Nevada this winter She came back she said because Fielding and I were such old friends that we just decided it would be best if we spent our last years together It was in 1882 when they first walked to the altar of the church in Blue Springs to wed On January 5 1927 Mrs Neal sued for divorce She charged indignities Three months later she dismissed the suit Then in July 1929 she was back in court again charging her husband had mistreated her barbarously Neal filed a crassy complaint saying his wife had made him sleep in the attic where he contracted a rheumatism that compelled him to walk with a cane and then she made him chop wood in spite of his ailment The divorce was granted in October 1929 and Mrs Neal married Wyatt In 1933 just about the time she would have been celebrating her golden wedding anniversary with Neal Neal was reticent about the reconciliation but neighbors noticed he was busy this week cleaning up his apartment then he left home yesterday wearing his best clothes They planned a quiet honeymoon at home.
