Salt Lake City March 90 AP Downie D. Muir Jr vice president and general manager announced United States Smelting Refining and Mining will build and operate the largest lead refinery west of Omaha at its Midvale smelter south of here. It will be Utahs first refinery capable of complete reduction and refining of metals from Utah and the intermountain region with a capacity of 72 000 tons per year and construction to begin shortly after April 1.

Farm Board Under Hoover Criticized In Meeting
Washington March 20 AP Henry Morgenthau Jr farm board chairman announced a program to speed liquidation of commodity holdings pledged for farm board loans totaling 157 236 323 as of February 28. He said many commodities have been held long and the Hoover era board had not been sales minded. He named Huey C Babock of Ithaca NY as special assistant to help cooperatives work out marketing problems and hasten sales. Morgenthau said no immediate plans for foreign sales but would consider any good horse trade offers.
