Missouri Healing Arts Licensing Bill faces study

A Missouri Senate committee will take at least a week to decide the fate of a proposed Single licensing board for the healing arts. The bill would license physicians and osteopaths, regulate chiropractors under the board, and require biennial registration. An amendment would exempt certain religious healing practices, while testimony urged killing the bill.

Waive Preliminary On Three Charges In Local Hearing

Two penitentiary inmates waived preliminary hearings on burglary and larceny and escape charges in Magistrate Court. Three men were fined for theft of a tire from a car near Selinger Centre on Feb. 24. Guilty pleas were entered before Magistrate Foster. Edwards, Coleman, and Wilkes faced fines of 50 dollars and costs, with possible jail time if payments are not made.

Seek Special Judge In Noble Case

Case was reset for March 28 with Judge Bidir noting Noble had filed a plea for change on Jan 26 but withdrew it by telegram the next day. James said he lacked time to prepare and a capital case needs thorough prep. He cited a six week doctor’s certificate and said interviews with nine witnesses already consumed a day. Crews Receive Double Arson Sentences in State Prison

Las Vegas witnesses the pre dawn detonation of the third atomic device in 1955. The blast at 5 20 a m was visible from Idaho to Phoenix and to San Francisco Los Angeles Salt Lake City and St George Utah. The explosion matched the second shot in power and produced a high cloud rising above 27 000 feet as a 50 knot wind moved the jetting. A weak boom reached communities across Nevada.

Two youths held after apparent stolen car chase

Two youths were captured after a pursuit from near Algaon raid east of Jefferson City to Lonse Creek. The car, believed stolen in St Louis, left the road and went over an embankment. Neither occupant was seriously injured.

Former Cole Resident Janet Boone Dies at 92

Former Cole resident and past national president of the America War Mothers, Mrs Janet Boone, died in Kansas City Sunday night at age 92. She was born on a farm near here now the site of the Algoa Reformatory. Her father died when she was 13 and she helped her family afterward.

Sam E Gentzsch a longtime Jamestown farmer died after a 12 week illness at Boonville. He was born September 13, 1976, in Jamestown to Herman and Margaret Gentzsch and married on June 12, 1907. Services were at Jamestown Methodist Church where he was a member for many years.
