Gains ranged from 4 percent in Louisville to 17 percent in eight smaller district cities, with St Louis up 15 percent. For the four weeks ending June, district sales averaged higher by a substantial margin over the prior year.

Wllliam Joseph Pennington, 78, long-time resident of High Point, died Thursday in California where he had lived since April 12. He was a retired factory man born March 19, 1878, son of J. W. and Mary Pennington. Survived by sister Mrs. Charles Medien of High Point and brothers Issue Pennington of Denver, Calo, and Clyde Pennington of Phoenix. Funeral planned for Sunday at 2:50 p.m. at the Baptist Church in High Point with Rev. N. E. Williams officiating. Burial at High Point Cemetery.
