High Court Orders Ouster of Lebanon Telephone Firm
The Missouri Standard Telephone Company is ousted from Lebanon by the state supreme court after its franchise expired December 11, 1932. Judge Coles held the company lost the right to use Lebanon streets and alleys for poles and wires when the franchise ended. The November 6, 393% aldermanic action granted a new 10 year franchise to replace the Standard, but no progress has been made to install a new system. The court noted municipal consent is required and a P S C certificate of convenience is not enough to authorize street use or oust a utility.
