Bi partisan liquor inspection bill clears House
Gov Forrest Donnell backs a plan to place liquor inspectors on a merit based bipartisan basis. The bill passed the House 102 to 3 with two amendments sending it back to the Senate. Proponents say it would strengthen enforcement while critics warn of political influence in liquor control. The amendments require bond and oath for inspectors and join the governor and others on the merit board. Also noted: scrap steel and iron usage rose by about 6 million tons year to date.
