Missing Illinois couples vanish after trip to West
A National Guard search is under way for four missing Illinois tourists after their 1929 Nash sedan was found in Dallas. Lorius of East St. Louis, and his wife along with the Hebierers, planned to flee to Los Angeles and San Diego for the exposition, sending postcards from Albuquerque. Sixteen forged $10 travelers' checks tied to Lorius prompted federal agents to enter the Cochran act case, with a possible kidnaping across state lines. Relatives fear for their safety as a $500 reward by the Mississippi Valley Masonic order goes unfulfilled.
