Priest urges parishioners to turn in guns

In Battle Creek Michigan AP a Roman Catholic priest urged about 1000 parishioners at two Masses to surrender their firearms for destruction but no one complied. Father John Huhn noted reluctance to act while stating the aim was to make a point and hoped hearts would respond. The priest who protested the Vietnam War by mailing his draft card last December cited a shotgun donation from Richard Hale of Battle Creek as inspiration after a gun was handed to him at a memorial Mass for Sen Robert F Kennedy.
