Burglary and burglaries probed by city police

City police investigated one burglary and three attempted burglaries reported Sunday morning at local businesses. Rackers Service Station and Grocery Store suffered a break in with $156.29 in groceries and knives stolen, plus $95 in door and display damage. Attempts occurred at Earle's Market, Martin's Skelly Service and Gerbes Supermarket Liquors with door glass broken and varying damages. A bottle of orange vodka worth $4.19 was broken in the liquor store break-in.

Union Station in Nashville Faces Decay and Renewal

Historic Union Station in Nashville built in 1900 remains disused and deteriorating due to a leaky roof and aging wiring while discussions continue about renovating or preserving it. Rail lines still run from the station to Memphis Chicago Evansville and Chattanooga with the Louisville and Nashville Railroad owning it. Despite calls for restoration the attached train shed and station have delayed plans amid municipal orders to close and demolish damaged sections. local figures stress high interest in saving the landmark but cost remains undetermined.

Doctor prescribes YMCA workouts to aid patients in therapy

He conducts an hour of exercise followed by group therapy arguing activity reduces low mood and aids recovery including an alcoholic patient who gains control as cravings fade. Nelson notes positive behavior substitution and total-person therapy.

Dissidents claim improved open activity in Soviet Union

Moscow AP reports 22 prominent dissidents issued a critical document on human rights under Helsinki accords. They note more open communication with Western reporters, growing local branches, and continued arrests or emigration limits for several members. They cite lack of free exit, residence choice, press, emigration, and minority discrimination as core rights violations.
