Norris named state purchasing agent and health board appointee

Robert L. Norris of Halleville was appointed acting state purchasing agent to replace James E. Schaffner. Norris has served as purchasing consultant in the Division of Mental Diseases since 1967 and previously worked as Schaffner’s assistant. Also named to the State Board of Health is Dr. William Bradshaw to serve until October 1970.

Six die in Navy helicopter crash off San Diego

A Navy EH2C Seasprite on a medical evacuation mission from the carrier Constellation crashed into the sea about seven miles west of Point Loma. At least two bodies recovered. search ongoing for survivors as two destroyers, Imperial Beach and North Island units aid. The helicopter, stationed at Helicopter Support Squadron One, weighed 9,600 pounds with a 40 foot rotor length.

Missouri history study tour planned for teachers

Jefferson City residents join the 17th annual Missourian study tour with 42 teachers from 40 schools. The program, cosponsored by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, offers specialized instruction on Missouri history and industry. Mrs. Francis Kelley of 1703 W. Si attends, and a one week course on Missouri history and economic background precedes the tour.

One man injured in city mishap

John R. Meyer twenty three of Halts Sumimit is listed in satisfactory condition at Charles Still Hospital after a two car collision in the 700 block of McCarty Street at 10:50 am today. A passenger in Meyer's car C Stephen Wulff of Colimbia was treated and released. Helen Augusta Welch thirty eight Route 1 was driver of the other car. Mrs Welch and two children riding with her escaped injury. Meyer was north on the interchange ramp at McCarty and Routes 54 and 63. Welch was east on McCarty when the accident occurred.

Wardsville 4-H Plans Picnic and Achievement Events

Bloodmobile to Visit Westphalia Tuesday

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit St. Joseph's School basement Westphalia from 1 30 to 2 30 p m Tuesday with a quota of 100 pints. This will be the last donor day for the 1968 1969 fiscal year. A request has been received for 20 pints of gland for surgery the day after the visit.

Lincoln University suspends 23 students in campus disorder

Lincoln University officials released names of 23 students suspended for campus disorders. Nine suspensions were upheld by the Student Personnel Services Committee with appeals to the Board of Curators and possibly the governor. Several listed names include John Anderson Kinloch Henry Burnett Denise Stovall and Allen Turk. Some students face readmission options while others faced non academic probation or were lifted due to lack of evidence.
