Moscow reports that the United States, Britain, and France rejected a Soviet note of April 19 proposing a hands off approach in Middle East affairs. Washington said Soviet subversive attacks and interventions push Middle East states to tighten security and seek coordination with each other.
The Missouri Highway Commission awarded low bids totaling 10,788,945 for interstate and supplementary routes. Clarkson Construction Co. won 2,613,949 for a 7.3 mile grading and paving project near Columbia plus Route K extension.
