Topeka June 3 AP The state rested its case in the embezzlement trial of state auditor Will J French after presenting witnesses including J D Stewart cashier of St John National Bank who said French had funds to cover five checks and a Topeka motor agency employee testified he received a 492 70 check from French. Bank officials testified about two checks totaling 450 dollars and the defense allowed the auditor’s signed and reimbursed checks amid questions whether the acts constituted embezzlement in Shawnee county district court.
