Convict Bechtel Captured Near Dripping Springs Arkansas
One of the Kansas penitentiary escapees Lewis Bechtel was surprised and captured at noon today at a farm house near Dripping Springs Oklahoma. Posse led by Floyd Green closed in on Bechtel amid a gun battle with the other two fugitives in rugged hills. Bechtel admitted identity after officers compared his features with photos. Authorities expect quick capture of the remaining two convicts as a heavy search continues northwest of Siloam Springs. Bechtel, serving 10 to 21 years for bank robbery, had joined a group that abducted M. J. Wood and two Kansas City women. The escape triggered a statewide manhunt with armed convicts moving toward Siloam Springs.
