In New York a spokesman said Admiral William F. Halsey, 70, is in good condition at Doctors Hospital after a mild stroke on Monday. Officials describe the episode as a reversible cerebral spasm rather than a hemorrhage and expect him to leave the hospital in a few days. The navy had previously reported a different diagnosis.
