Jefferson City residents use the Riverside Park gymnasium despite heat and crowding. Director Ben Porter says added space could handle more members and allow limited boxing and wrestling exhibitions. About half of the 100 daily attendees are women, with sessions organized by day and gender. Fees remain nominal, inviting all to shed the spare tire.
In the Northern Division Non-Pro bracket Rolla, West Quincy, and Carling's Red Birds won. Rolla’s Butch Lead pitched a no hitter in a 13-0 win over Algoa. West Quincy beat Sedalia 8-1, while Quincy defeated Sedalia 4-0 with Jim Norris homer and Larry Foley silencing losers on five hits. Jefferson City routed Rosebud 12-0 as Denny Higgins struck out nine over five innings. Tournament action resumes with Taps vs Honeywell at 6:30 and Ban Johnson Bruins vs St Martin’s at 8:30 Wednesday. no games tonight.

Results include Washington edging New York 9-8 and Cleveland defeating Kansas City 4-0 with other scores for Boston Baltimore Detroit Chicago and Milwaukee Pittsburgh San Francisco and Cincinnati Philadelphia San Francisco at Los Angeles.
A Senate subcommittee report urges federal funding to train personnel for juvenile delinquency work and higher state and local spending. It notes 1958 referrals to juvenile courts rose 175 percent from 1948 for ages 10 to 17, with nearly 236000 of 700000 cases in 1958 involving traffic violators. chairman Thomas C. Hennings says schools for social workers are under staffed and under funded.
CHATTANOOGA Tenn AP Radio station WDXB offered a free funeral to the first traffic victim in Hamilton County during the Fourth of July weekend. The owner urged the public not to seek the prize and, as the weekend ended, there were no takers.

Bagdad beat to third in Monday's 50000 added American Handicap, clouding plans for Hollywood Gold Cup Handicap. Victoria Park weakened by swelled front legs after a 11hour West flight. If all goes well trainer Horatio Luro hopes the colt may run in the Sunset Handicap July 25. Prize Host won the American Handicap by three quarters of a length over Twentyone Guns. Bagdad finished more than a length back.
Jack Hinkle of Wichita won the 25 lap Garnett Grand Prix feature for the second straight year driving a Maserati. Bob Price of Topeka finished second and Ed Haussenmann of Lawrence third in Prosche RSKs. A 27,000 crowd, including Gov. and Mrs. Docking, watched the 2.84 mile Garnett Lake course amid 350 entries from 12 states over the two day program.

Pete Whisenant homered doubled and singled with three RBI, walked, and scored in a 9-8 Senators win over the Yankees.
Mickey Wright of San Diego claims her second LPGA title after finishing 292 to win 1500 dollars. Louise Suggs, Atlanta, earns second with 295 and 1150 dollars. Betsy Rawls, Spartanburg, third at 301 with 860 dollars. Wright’s final round included a 20 foot birdie on one and a 42 footer on the 16th.

The Rackers and Bacchus outfit moved within a game of league-leading Columbia, who they host next Sunday. The Capital Civilans won their eighth of the year and sixth straight, while Boonville has lost three. Legionnaires visit Camden on Thursday.
