Missouri Life Insurance Reveals $6 Million RFC Loan
William T. Nardin, president of Missouri State Life Insurance, disclosed in a stockholders meeting that the company borrowed $6,000,000 from the Reconstruction Finance Corporation to meet policy loan and cash surrender demands. Loans were issued April to August last year and secured by bonds with higher market value, with some renewals and six month terms. Cash loans in 1932 totaled about $14,000,000 as April demand surged, prompting the board to borrow rather than sell securities at low market values.
