Social Counseling For Delinquents Put Into Effect
The State Board of Training Schools inaugurated social counseling at three Missouri training schools. Tommy L. Kubach, 28, of St. Joseph, named social service director at Boonville, will maintain inmate social histories and liaise with families, preparing for community return. Kubach begins Feb 3. he holds a master's in social welfare and is a WWII veteran. The board also heard Miss Kathryn Mier will study libraries at all three schools to improve them. Senate proposal for a five member survey and drafting legislation drew cooperation from Director Sharp. Donnelly and Duffy head to Cheyenne for a Missouri basin inter agency committee meeting, returning Saturday.

Missouri Supreme Court Rehearing Sought by Fire Risk Firms
The Missouri Supreme Court was asked to grant a rehearing for 122 fire insurance firms. They contest the ruling that former insurance supervisor R E O Malley received money to settle long pending rate litigation and argue the court erred in finding bribery by O Malley and T J Pendergast. Attorney General J E Taylor also sought rehearing on anti trust and rating statutes. The case, begun in 1922, had fined the companies a total of 2 090 000 last December 30.

Racketeering question raised in portal pay suits

Death of W. S. Williams at 68 in Columbia
W S Williams died at a Columbia convalescent home this morning after years of ill health. Born January 12 1879 in Mt Vernon Missouri he spent most of his life farming and came to town 22 years ago. Survived by brothers Sam W of Jefferson City and J C of Placerville California and sister Mrs Aliie Sturgeon. Body taken to Buescher Funeral home for funeral arrangements.

War Assets Official Arrested by FBI
FBI Director J Edgar Hoover announced the arrest of a War Assets Administration official and an ex convict on fraud charges. George A Gormley and Louis V Dionne, both Washington residents, allegedly altered sale documents at a WAA Alexandria Virginia sale to obtain textiles. The theft valued at 144000 was recovered in a New York storage firm traced from a trucking terminal. The investigation notes the men met at a Washington hotel bar last November and planned to divert high grade woolen goods to Gromley.
