Thousands tour a salt mine in EOCHENDORF to view sculpture carved from salt rock. The 1937 1938 display by Stuttgart sculptors features SA uniforms and a rescued mass theme. Prisoners of war, French inmates, contributed major figures, now part of the Sunday exhibit funding miners welfare.
Mrs Louie Belle Swillum died at St Marys hospital after an illness. She was born May 11 1873 in Mexico and lived at 705 near East Miller Street. Her husband Mike Schlum died in 1948. Survived by daughter Nell Foster and two stepsons Lawrence and Roy. Services for Anna J Rogers mother of Mrs S B Dickey will be held in Montgomery City with relatives attending from Moberly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cecelia C Gerard, 45, will be held tomorrow morning in Rolla. The notice appears in the local obituary column. The report notes family survivors and service details in concise form.

William Dove aged 85 died at Cal laway hospital after hip fracture. Born December 18 1864 in Iowa he had lived in Callaway county 23 years. A retired farmer he lived with daughter Grace Campbell of Galwood and is survived by two other daughters Ernest Spradlin Rt. 1 Fulton Ed Ahers of St. Louis a son John Dove of St. Louis nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services set for Friday afternoon at Hickory Grove church.

In Moberly on February 24 AP says nominations close March 20 for the Missouri Mother of 1950. Mrs W D Thompson of Moberly chairs the Golden Rule foundation state mothers committee. The 1950 winner will be announced April 16. Criteria include character achievements of her children and civic and religious service. Dr Arabella Thompson of Breckenridge was the 1949 state mother.
The U S savings bonds campaign will run from May 15 through July 4 with thousands of volunteers expected to aid. Secretary of the Treasury Snyder announced the effort and the campaign slogan Save for Your Independence. The Liberty bell serves as the drive symbol and Thorpe J Gordon chairs the Cole county committee.
