Anthony Hiesberger 26 of 2 Hobbs Terrace filed today for the Democratic nomination for fifth ward Councilman. He is a production manager at Modern Litho Print Company and active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Rotary Club and Immaculate Conception Church. Hiesberger, born March 7 1939 and a University of Missouri journalism graduate, is running unopposed after incumbent Dr Richard P Skain announced he would not seek re election. Also Republican Chairman Dallas E Gravatt refiled for the City Committee from Ward Three Precinct Four after a precinct line dispute.
Former ambassador Taylor rejects a simple domino collapse theory while warning that Communist support for wars of liberation could spread. He argues U.S. aims are to undermine the myth of invincibility and press for negotiations, cautioning that a defensive posture would waste mobility and firepower. Johnson echoes that terror tactics risk wider spread.
City Fiscal Officer Joseph E. Abernathy reports sewer bond funds earning between 4.48 and 4.60 percent as investments mature. On Feb 4 reinvested 785,696.30 dollars of sewer money in Treasury bills, with 800,000 dollar value at maturity and 200,000 held for sewer construction. Indiana State Police and deputies moved to quell rioting at the Indiana Girls School in Clermont. About nine inmates, aged 12 to 19, remained missing after midafternoon violence that damaged windows and furniture. the outbreak followed an attack on the high school principal. It’s the second major riot in 17 months, with sheriff Capt. Lee Eads warning of further breaches without tighter discipline and security.

After the B52 collision with a jet tanker near Spain, three of four nuclear bombs were recovered. A search for the fourth continues in the Mediterranean and on land. U.S. Ambassador Duke said water samples show no radioactivity. Air Force officials note the bomb was not armed and posed no explosion danger.

The pope issued an apostolic constitution Do Penance redefining fasting and Friday abstinence for Catholics. Fasting now limited to Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Washington AP Postal officials warn of a large fraudulent chain letter scheme in the United States, likely run by South American residents. Thousands of letters have been sent to box holders in seven cities including New Orleans and New York. The scheme requests ten dollars sent to the first named person. several names appear to be deceased and a charity is included to appear respectable.
New Delhi India Reuters reports Food Minister Chidambaram Subramaniam has summoned ambassadors and diplomats from 30 countries to discuss aid to ease India's food shortage.
