A fragmentary obituary sketch notes that Sabatini, born in Jesi, Central Italy, in 1878, was the son of an Italian singer and an English mother. He became a naturalized British citizen in 1918. His first wife, married in 1880s, divorced him. Rafael Sabatini Jr. was killed in a motor accident in 1887. in 1995 he married Corietine Dixon, who was by his side at death.
In Tucson on February 12 AP reports noted birth control advocate Mrs Slee twice denied permission to enter Japan. Tokyo cable to the theater commander Douglas MacArthur declined to review the application. Japan’s occupation policy and a new law permitting birth control and sterilisation frame the denial while she cited invitations from Japanese officials to work on birth control among Tokyo’s poor.
CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo Feb 13 Four persons drowned early Sunday when the truck carrying them went out of control and plunged into a 10-foot water filled ditch on the Mississippi river side. Four others in the back escaped. The dead were Lines Leggett and his sister Edith Roy Carrell and Miss Dor Watson. Pleat Howell 41 rescued his wife and two daughters Pansy 17 Patsy 15. The unidentified bus driver helped the Howells from the water then dived to the cab but could not open the door. Victims and rescuers were from Chaffee Mo.
E G Veatch 80 a Jefferson City father of Wade Veatch died at home after illness. Veatch lived on 15th Street and was noted for community work. Funeral services are set for Wednesday with burial to follow at local cemetery.
Albert E. Kautsch, a longtime Stringtown area farmer born November 11, 1871, died yesterday morning at his daughter's home in Craig after a heart ailment. He was 78. Survived by wife Christine Scheperie, two daughters and a son, six grandchildren, a sister Lydia, a brother Martin, and a brother-in-law Rev. Cleo Kautsch. He belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church in Stringtown.
Jamestown report states Theodore Kuhn aged 70 died Saturday after a stroke suffered last week. Retired farmer lived on a farm west of Jamestown. He was the son of the late Christian Kuhn and wife survived include son Clarence Rubh and daughter Mrs Ralph Muir, both of Jamestown. Another daughter Esther preceded him in death. He belonged to the Moninon Avangelies and Reformed church. Funeral plans incomplete.
Mrs Alley Carrie Bardwell died at her Clarksburg home in the early hours. She was born in Pennsylvania years ago. Survived by husband Dock Bardwell and seven children. Children include Mrs Janie Kutehel Kansas City, Mrs Carl Chambers Elizabeth New Jersey, Mrs G L Fullford Seattle, Fordyce Bardwell Chicago, James Bardwell Kansas City, Mrs B L Pratter St Louis, Mrs Duriss Richey California. Sisters include Stella Smith Peabody Kansas and Mrs Frank Buli Tipton.

Grady the famous hereford cow, once trapped by a silo, calved without incident at the Mach farm in Kukon Oklahoma. Bill Mach recalls the past scare as Ralph Partridge of the Denver Post helped grease the silo opening, allowing Grady to deliver a healthy 110 pound calf with no trouble this time.
Two scouts from Presbyterian Church Troop 2, Jim Bauey and Herb Schriefer, returned Missouri license No. 672-785 found during a cycling trip to Centertown. The act supports their plan to complete seven rides for a cycling merit badge.
Yale selects Alfred Whitney Griswold, a 4 year history professor and Yale graduate, as the 16th president to succeed Charles Seymour. Griswold, 65, will take office next day after Seymour retires June 30, following a surprise announcement delayed to Sunday.
Griswold graduated from Yale and taught English there for a year after graduation. He then did graduate work in Germany and at Yale before rejoining Yale as a history teacher in 1932.
Hubert Wheeler commissioner of education of Jefferson City has been elected to the board of directors and the executive committee of the Missouri division American Cancer Society. The appointment signals active leadership in the regional cancer charity’s governance.
The sheriff claims he and Marilyn have lived together since last June but are married. Schneslock seeks divorce in Atlantic City New Jersey. He denies any connection with a list of names including Yeumindng Howard Fiabe and Mrs Walter Edward Schnee Schwartz. Marilyn, tied to Butte Montana, marched in the 1848 Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena. Her mother Marguerite Hodnik of Deer Lodge Montana is en route for a funeral Tuesday.
