Mrs W C Askew of Kansas City has been visiting her sister Mrs Ray Herrick at 1508 West High while her niece Frances Herrick convalesces from pneumonia.
Mrs J W Hobbs hosted a bridge luncheon at 611 East Capital with five tables. Mrs English hosted a bridge luncheon at 522 Madison. prizes went to several named attendees. Miss Mary Morton Walls entertained Pi Beta Phi alumni at 711 Capitol Ave. plans made for an Alumni Club. Misses Frances, Ann Ramsey, Helen Stigall attended. dessert bridge at 412 Washington with prizes to Mrs D B Jenkins and Mrs Floyd C Larsen.
Mrs William Wildeboor entertained twenty guests at her 1628 West Main home on Wednesday afternoon honoring her mother Mrs G N Hoff on her eightieth birthday. A blue sweet pea centerpiece graced the tea table while Mrs James A Hill and Miss Emma Stuckey presided.
Mrs Donald A Blake was elected president of St Marys Guild at a Wednesday morning meeting in Grace church parish hall. Officers for the year include Mrs R S Maddox and Mrs Hugh Stephens as vice presidents, Mrs B Whitlow as secretary, and Mrs Annie Baxter as treasurer.
Special services marking World Day of Prayer will be held at 2 30 PM tomorrow at the Evangelical church with Mrs Henry Guhleman presiding and helpers from Pressbyterian Grace Episcopal Methodist Baptists Christian and the Dorcas Missionary Society. Devotional lead by Mrs George Coleman.
Dr James Shelby Thomas president of the Chrysler Institute of Engineering will discuss New Frontiers for a Smart People at a Town Hall meeting this evening in the Junior College Auditorium. Also the International Relations Group of the American Association meets at 6 pm in church parlors. Sunshine Class Evangelical church has pot luck supper at 6 30 this evening at Miss Adeline Walz 421 West McCarty. Marjorie Caudill Circle Baptist Church meets at 7 30 tomorrow evening with Mrs Kehr 723 Yauchin. Mrs Paul Weber reads Mission Study.
A notice lists several community meetings including the University Women gathering at 7:30 pm with Mrs Henry Detherage to discuss the Russian Problem at 114 North Boonville Road. Other groups like United Daughters of the Confederacy and student events are announced with host names and venues.
