Miss Susie Rue Yows of Barnett was named queen of the Winter Ball for Explorers and their dates from the 11 county area. The event in the Capitol Rotunda was sponsored by Judge Norwin D. Houser and a local Explorer Committee with several co sponsors. Yows, a sophomore at Eldon High School, was escorted by John Caine and Miss Janet Wolfe. The queen’s court listed Susie Roberts Cecilia Lutz and Bobbie Jo Dudley as other candidates with escorts.

Hearnes drops veto plan on poverty funds in St Louis
