Tax Payment Deadline Friday In Cole County

Cole County collector Bert Koester said about $200 000 has been collected in three days, bringing the total since November to about $1,090,000. About $2,300,000 is due this year, with payments accepted at the county courthouse until 5 p.m. Friday. Delinquency penalties of 23 percent apply to late payments, unless postmarked by midnight Friday to avoid the 3 percent overcharge if mailed. Koester expects roughly $2,155,000 to be collected by Friday, representing about 95 percent of the total due.
