Duarte California December 1. Santa Claus in person arrives on the Santa Fe Los Angeles division to Jill Miller an 18 year old invalid. Since 1937 Jill waved from her porch to engineers and trainmen as trains pass by. Now the division plans a big Christmas party with gifts including an electric blanket platform rocker otto man bedlathers and a large wall mirror. O D Kelley will head the delegation. Jill’s doctor says the railroad friendship has lifted her spirits.

Mysterious 18-Inch Metal Sphere Found in Capitan Mountains
In New Mexico the 18 inch metal sphere found by deerhunters near Capitan is under study by Dr. Lincoln LaPaz and a team from the University of New Mexico. The object and accompanying items include a duraluminum sphere, a small meter, a large flower pot like fragment, a plastic insert, a hair triggered clock, and film packs marked 1935. Two theories propose the sphere was ejected from a guided missile or carried by a large balloon. Investigators note reports of green fireballs in the area on several dates.

A Christmas tree fire caused by a short in a wire damaged a rug and scorched a mirror at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Atlen on Hayselton Drive 151%. Firefighters reported the incident and urged capital residents to take precautions with decorations.

Three people sustained leg and facial injuries in a frontal collision at Monroe and McCarty streets. August Smith of 627 Georgia and Paul C. Martin of 629 West High were hurt. Death of Rev J H Buescher former Brazito pastor
The Rev John H Buescher long time pastor at the Burlington Evangelical and Reformed church died at his West Burlington home. Born March 12 1889 in Hopewell Missouri he served churches in Brazito Russellville Versailles and Burlington. He leaves his wife a son Dr Rudolph Buescher of Burlington and two daughters Mrs Selma Lawton of Chicago and Miss Dorothy Buescher of Burlington along with several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held in Burlington Thursday.

Allen T. Peden Dies at St. Mary's
Allen Thurman Peden 43 of Route 1 Jefferson City died yesterday afternoon at St Marys hospital after five years of poor health and a stroke last Wednesday. Born August 1 1867 in Salem Indiana he was married to Eva Brunk in 1903. A retired Missouri Pacific railroad worker he belonged to the Methodist church and lodges in Parisic and Jefferson City. Survivors include his wife one sister and three nephews. Funeral services likely Wednesday with Riverview burial.

GREENVILLE Ohio Dec 15 AP A 354 man VFW post proposes a minute man like civil defense corps of ex service veterans. The plan says the federal government should form it within weeks at no cost to taxpayers. Members would wear a helmet pay 150 and provide own transport and clothing while on active duty. They could be called only by the president to prevent sabotage or in case of enemy attack and not for strike duty.
