R Ferguson rites Thursday for Tipton native 68

Funeral services for R Ferguson, 68, will be Thursday at Tipton Methodist Church. Burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. He died December 10 in Alta Loma, California, where he resided the past three years. He and wife operated a butcher shop and variety store in Tipton for many years. Born January 1889 in Tipton, son of William M Ferguson and Lillie Rush Ferguson. Survived by widow, one son Louis B Ferguson, one brother and two grandchildren. He was a member of Edgar Cale Post 304 American Legion.

Funeral Tuesday for Mrs Knorp in California Mo

Funeral services for Mrs Mel ie Sophie Knorp of California Missouri will be held at 2:30 p m Tuesday at St Pauls Lutheran Church in California with Keith Katone officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Mrs Knarp died Sunday at age 61. She was born April 18 1854 at Wooldridge the daughter of Charles and Wilhelmina Lenzer. She married Henry Knarp March 12 1911. he died in 1939. Survived by five daughters Mrs Fred Scheurer Mrs Raymond Scheidt both of California Mrs Dick Sack Hays Ran Mrs Rolla Cooper Kansas City Mrs Gail Perkes Independence one brother Fred LenGer Wooldridge and ten grandchildren.

Joe Kolb dies at Wardsville after long illness

Joe Kolb Sr. of Wardsville died Sunday at his home at age 68. Born January 12, 1897 at Osage Bend, he was married to Lucy K. Thessen. Survived by four sons, two daughters, a brother, four sisters, and 15 grandchildren. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and Holy Name Society. Rosary tonight and tomorrow. funeral Thursday at St. Stanislaus Church with burial in the parish cemetery.

Forgotten Jail Inmate Acquitted

Jefferson City Police Court acquitted Howard Thomas Roller after six days in jail on a drunkenness and shoplifting case. He faced bond issues and continuances while a jury found no conclusive evidence of intent to steal. The case involved two spools of thread and needles placed in a pocket. Cerebral Palsy Party Marks 3rd Annual Christmas Party

The Young Adult Cerebral Palsy Help Yourself Club held its third annual Christmas party at the home of Juvie Hargus in Holts Summit. Organized in 1952, the event drew a large group with films and gift exchanges. A short business meeting led by president Bob Ingram preceded discussions on workshop development at the Goshorn Center Foreehops with district director Mrs Chilton Estes and center director Mrs Sibyl Barthel. The next meeting is planned for March 13 at the Goshorn Center Workshop.

Bank Holdup Clues Exhausted In Missouri Case

Nearly two weeks after three armed men and a woman driver robbed the Lake Ozark bank of 20092 dollars investigators say clues are exhausted. The getaway car was found in heavy brush twelve miles away within an hour, but suspects remain at large. FBI Special Agent Roland Ayres calls it well planned and organized, with possible linked robberies and several suspects yet to be eliminated.

Sunday Post Office Opens for Christmas Mailing

Postmaster William C Blair reported a strong Sunday opening as the main post office and subs stations offered three hours for holiday mailing. 863 parcels were emailed during the period, a 4.8 percent rise over 1964, with Jefferson City handling 3,516,600 pieces to date versus 3,519,267 in all of 1964. Blair cautioned that Wednesday is the last day to mail out-of-town gifts to ensure delivery before Christmas and noted national mail volume is setting records.

Healing Board Action Upheld by Missouri Supreme Court

Review of Ban On Prayer Denied

The Supreme Court refused to review a challenge to a ban on voluntary nursery type prayers by public school students. Parents of 21 NYC children argued prayers are constitutional under the First Amendment. The ruling leaves in place the ban upheld by the U.S. Circuit Court in New York.

A portable bleacher collapsed at Nutter Fieldhouse on the Missouri Army post injuring 17 girl singers from the Immaculate Conception Rolla High School choir. The students were bruised and had abrasions. three were kept overnight for observation at a post hotel rather than the Missouri hospital.
