Second Negro Found Guilty in Scottsboro Case
Clarence Norris, second of the nine Scottsboro defendants retried in Morgan County Alabama, was convicted of assault with the jury fixing the death penalty. The case followed the March 25 1931 incident on a gondola car near Scottsboro. Norris did not testify and testimony from Ruby Bates was used in his defense.
