Dynamite strikes hit mine district in Providence Kentucky

Dynamiting and burning of two vacant houses marked the third day of renewed disorders in the Providence coal field. Property loss was estimated at 1500 dollars. Providence has been in turmoil since an air raid two weeks earlier when a plane dropped dynamite bombs near the city. The disturbances followed the reopening of mines last spring after closings due to strikes.

Levis and Brown, American tractor plant workers in Stalingrad, were sentenced to ten years deportation after being found guilty of assaulting an American black worker named Robinson. The court had initially sentenced two years, but amended the verdict citing racial prejudice. Peru ex president Leguia jailed after coup in Callao Harbor

Augusto Leguia 67 year old ex president of Peru, removed by the military junta, was placed in a prison cell at San Lorenzo Island near Callao Harbor to await trial for alleged dictatorship misdeeds. His son Juan Leguia was jailed at San Leavenzo. The new military president Lieutenant Colonel Luis M. Sanchez Cerro said punishment would follow for Leguia and others, and announced charges against Harold Grow, a U.S. naval reserve officer, for aiding Leguia. Grow was captured after the rebellion and held as diplomacy sought his release. In Wisconsin, two men abducted Miss Jors Hertel and robbed a 3200 payroll from the Brandt cashier company payroll transport in Water Town.

Oklahoma Court frees men jailed on Sunday booze raid

Oklahoma City August 30 AP jailing of a father and son after a Sunday liquor raid was declared illegal by the Oklahoma Criminal Court of Appeals which ruled legal process may not be served on Sunday. The elder Laub received 80 days and his son 30 days. the court criticized arresting officers for violating a Sunday non juridical day rule.

Two States Seek Escaped Convict Near Blair Nebraska

Sheriffs and possemen from two states combed mud flats along the Missouri River near Blair Nebraska for Bray Harding an inmate of Anamosa Town Reformatory who escaped yesterday after forcing a prison foreman to drive him across the river. Harding a life sentence for a 1926 Modale bank robbery was described as a trusty and sought by authorities at his home and among relatives in the area. He said he escaped to see his wife and three children.
