August 8 1950 reports a twin engine Ad-1 prototype crashed from 15,000 feet during flight testing. Co-Pilot Charles E Poage, 27, and Pilot Daniel Darnell Jr., 30, were aboard the North American aircraft. Navy funding for the project exceeds $72,000,000 as investigations begin into the cause.

In Kansas City on August 8 AP reports two new polio cases at Children’s Mercy Hospital this year. Patients are Leroy Stufflebean eight, son of Mrs. Maxine Stufflebean of Bucklin, and Paul Judd, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Judd of Richmond. Both in good condition. A year ago that date the hospital had 25 polio cases.
