Missouri towns win federal loans for public works planning

Washington April 26 AP The General Services Administration granted loans to two Missouri cities to plan construction of public works. Mexico received 41520 for six street projects totaling 1123674 dollars. St Louis Board of Education received 30000 to plan a three story high school addition costing 1575900 dollars.

Explosion Injures Dozens in Seattle Apartment Collapse

An explosion wrecked a four story Seattle apartment building near downtown injuring at least 12 people with two seriously hurt. Fire crews battled flames after the blast collapsed basement supports and blew out windows into adjacent streets. No fatalities were reported as of this update.

Missouri library meeting faces county and regional concerns

In Peru Nebraska a psychology professor Dr. E. Baker shot and killed college president Dr. William Michaels and education chief Dr. Paul Maxwell before killing himself. A note hinted motive, saying the president fired the wrong person. Baker had learned he was being dropped in the college catalog.
