A new local Democratic club, the Alliance of Interested Democrats AID, formed Monday night in Jefferson City elected Eugene G Bushmann a Jefferson City lawyer as president The group aims to back primary candidates and speak on local issues while staying independent of the Democratic Coalition The officers include Walter W Nowotny Jr vice president Jane Porter secretary and Lorenzo Greens treasurer The club has not yet chosen a state office candidate for the 1972 primary and plans to address charter government the city charter drafting commission and the school election

Store owner shot in hold up on Kansas City east side

In Kansas City on the east side a grocery store owner, 45 year old Harold Katz, was shot in the chest during a robbery. Two gunmen entered, forced customers and staff to the floor, Katz resisted and was shot. The robbers emptied two tills and fled. amount stolen unknown. Katz was in fair condition at a hospital.

Delayed talks favored by senator over Nixon vote push

A senator argued that delaying a vote would avoid weakening the United States in missile arms and give time for negotiations with the Soviets. He noted the President could proceed if talks fail. Rogers warned ABM deployment must not be delayed despite Soviet test firings. Laird cited Safeguard as essential for a credible deterrent and first strike capability.
