College protests swell as antiwar rallies erupt nationwide

Boonville youths Martin Weimholt and W L Overshiner were injured when their truck overturned about a mile east of Centertown on Highway 40. Weimholt sustained head lacerations and remained in hospital for observation while Overshiner was treated for a leg wound and released. California had 16,281 registered barbers in March.

Electric chair greatly improved in Chicago jail
An electric chair described as the fastest working device of its kind in the United States was completed today at Cook County jail in Chicago. Warden Frank Sain said the rebuilt chair would reduce the condemned’s time in the death chamber to about ten seconds, down from the previous 35 to 40 seconds spent fastening the belts.

In Wisconsin and WAUKESHA AP report a 15 year old girl Ethel Scadding freckled and pretty reacts with joy upon learning her father Charles Alfred Scadding has been rescued from a Moose River Nova Scotia gold mine. She writes him Hello Daddy I am so happy you are out all right I prayed for you Love from Ethel. Ethel was in eighth grade at Lincoln junior high and was called home to hear the news.

In New York on April 22, Joan Fiorenza a Beekman Place upholsterer’s helper, was arraigned on an affidavit charging he attacked and garroted Mars Nancy Evans Witterton. He earlier confessed the crime to Police Commissioner Valentine and District Attorney Dodge, with an indictment likely by Tuesday.
