Youth slaying conviction in Batesville murders student gets 21 years
J P Barber 22, former high school athlete, was found guilty of second degree murder in Batesville Arkansas for the killing of Maurice Osborne a Cord merchant. The jury rejected first degree murder and Barber testified that Osborne struck first with a shotgun during a dispute over plans for a fishing trip. Osborne’s wife Norma 23 testified about an illicit romance and received a nine year sentence. she plans an appeal. Barber was captured in Kentucky weeks earlier and brought back for trial.

Missouri Journalism Schools Criticized by Editor
