Rusk Visits Saigon in High Security Tour

Missile Base Buildup at Whiteman Air Force Base

Pedestrian Injured In Highway Mishap Near Hartsburg
Jefferson City resident Paul D. Scott, 20, suffered a compound fracture of the left leg after stepping from in front of a parked vehicle onto Highway 63 just north of the Hartsburg turnoff. He was struck by Patricia Ann Fetters, 23, of Hallsville, and transported to Memorial Hospital by motorist Charles Northway, 25. No ticket was issued, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Fire damages mill and nearby waste piles
Fire swept a mill area injuring stave saws and two 1 inch edger saws with many hand tools lost. Flames jumped to waste material before firefighters stopped spread toward stacks. The mill, producing about 4 000 slates per day, remained a concern as residents watched.
