Seven bandits rob train at Nutley station
A gang of seven armed robbers looted the baggage car safe of an Erie railroad train at Walnut street station Nutley in a morning heist. Loot ranges from 88 000 to 900 reportedly sent to Paterson and Newark branches with the Peoples National Bank of Bebleville named as consign ee. The train from Waldwick to Jersey City carried commuters and shoppers. the engineer Mayor Joseph J Reilly and crew were questioned by Newark detectives after the bandits fled in a car along Lafayette street to Park Avenue.
