Juveniles Arrested In Train Derailment In Boston

Six juveniles were arrested for causing a New Haven Railroad commuter train derailment in Boston injuring two people. One boy admitted they broke a lock and turned a switch that diverted the self powered two car train onto a siding during the Monday night incident on the Needham to Boston line. The derailed train overturned after entering the siding.

The 88 member Missouri University Concert Band begins a mid state tour with a Jefferson City stop at the high school. After a 8:30 a.m. arrival and 11 a.m. lunch at Fulton High, a 1:30 p.m. concert followed by a 7:50 p.m. show at Lebanon High School. A Kansas City pops concert is set for April 24 and a St. Louis scholarship concert for May 8 at Kiel Auditorium.

Escape Charges Filed on Three Prison Inmates

Three inmates Marvin Sharp Jimmy Wood and A W Snider face escape charges in Cole County Magistrate Court after being captured following an Osage River cottage break in during which a man and his son were bound. Sharp had seven years for forgery in Dallas County Wood 3½ years for motor car tampering and Snider five years for forgery in Greene County.

Lions to Hear Extension Head at Lions Club Meet

C B Ratchford vice president for extension at the University of Missouri will speak at the Jefferson City Lions Club noon meeting in the Missouri Hotel. Buel Vincent and son David of Holts Summit reported to authorities after a gun theft incident. Ratchford named director of extension in 1959 and became dean of the extension division after formation, then served as vice president for extension from 1965. They were captured later by Missouri Highway Patrolman on U S 63 near Westphalia, offering no resistance.
