Springfield officials report a sudden revival of chain mail postcards. Postmaster C. W. Greenwade says the stamps promote fabric and prayers, urging recipients to forward items to five friends to receive returns. The fliers threaten disasters if the chain is broken and are being destroyed as violations of the lottery law.
Report details a prolonged strike affecting 83,000 GM employees and 200,000 idle workers as CIO-UAW and steel unions press for wage gains and labor terms.
