Senators to confer with Hoover on farm relief bill

A five member Senate agriculture committee delegation led by Chairman McNary will meet President Hoover to discuss the new farm relief bill. The group includes Norweck Capper Ransdell and Heflin to seek Hoover views on the export debenture plan and its integration into the McNary Bill. The House agriculture subcommittee also advanced a farm relief measure for quick extra session consideration.

Rehearsals For Pigs Start At School

Rehearsals for Pigs the Senior Class play have started with the cast chosen earlier progressing rapidly in a three act comedy. Proceeds will help the class treasury deficit. The performance is set for Thursday evening May 2 in the Junior College auditorium.

Headless Doll Leads To Murder Report

A reported headless body of a 24 year old boy in the Tuscarawas River was found to be a baby gall upon investigation by Coroner J. P. Lewis and Sheriff Harry C. Smith in Gnadenhutten Ohio. Officials had initially suspected Melvin Horse from Orrville as missing since December.

Whole Towns Leveled As Storm Cuts Wide Swath

A tornado devastated Possum Trot and Sneeds near Swift ton with 35 dwellings ruined along a two mile stretch. Eleven deaths among local families and nine killed at homes near Par ian and Parker. A negro community was largely wiped out and a temporary morgue operated in Swift ton. Relief crews, including five more disaster workers, were dispatched to Newport, Ark.

Southeast Missouri Farm Fin Co Organized Amid Flood Crisis

W R Humphrey announces formation of the Southeast Missouri Agricultural Corporation with 250000 capital to advance funds for planting in the flood belt. A ten to six board will supervise rediscounted loans via the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of St Louis, at rates near 2 percent, backed by government securities. About 50000 is subscribed by St Louis banks and olive refineries.

Relief Effort Mobilized After Arkansas Tornado Hit

The Midwestern Red Cross branch dispatched five disaster relief workers from Salem to aid in northeastern Arkansas. Alfred Evans led the effort. an appeal to Arkansas governor was announced to speed relief supplies. Salem residents reported a hail and flood event with connections to Memphis and Little Rock.
