In Scranton Pennsylvania last night two 11 year old playmates tied their peer David Martin to a tree and set fire to the grass around him. Flames lapped at his arms and legs as neighbors arrived to help. A Danish firm is producing fruit juices milk products and beverage extracts in powdered form using an atomizer.
Washington April 9 Senator Morris W Sheppard a Texas Democrat and longtime prohibition advocate died at 5 30 a m at Waller Reed Hospital of an intra cranial hemorrhage He was 66 and had been ill since Friday He chaired the Senate Military Affairs Committee and had served 39 consecutive years in Congress He co authored the 18th amendment and piloted the first peacetime conscription bill He was known as the Little Sheppard of Kingdom Come and had a career devoted to prohibition and army matters
The Missouri Senate debated a public health bill targeting syphilis infection among women. Amendments sought to limit health department control and require maternal consent for blood tests. The measure was laid over after Kinney requested more amendments following a tie vote on Searcy’s consent proposal.
