DETROIT April 5 AP A dramatic operation transplanted a six inch segment of a deceased person main heart artery to save a 17 year old man at Henry Ford Hospital The hospital called the procedure a delicate success Authorities could not say if it was without precedent The patient name was withheld The artery was preserved five days before use to replace a diseased aorta that threatened to burst Doctors said the diseased artery was greatly distended and dangerous to the patient
At sea near Norfolk aboard the carrier Wright during training maneuvers a navy helicopter toppled after a landing. Two men were killed and four injured, two critically, with names withheld pending next of kin notification. Detachments of U S Marines were part of Commodore Perry's expedition to Japan in 1853 54.

California April 5 Special John William Britton 86 living on a farm six miles southwest of here for 63 years died at his home from pneumonia. He was semi invalid 15 years. Funeral Thursday at Sappington cemetery with burial there. Born Litchfield Virginia February 29 1864 son of George and Mrs. Britton. Survived by wife four sons Charley Willie George Clarence two daughters Frances and Mrs W B Moore, one brother Jim one sister Lucy Brady. He was longtime secretary of the Sappington school board.
Edward P Mullaley 66 longtime Sedalia Postmaster died yesterday after several weeks illness. He formerly worked in the Sedalia Democrat Capital composing room. Survived by wife, son William of Washington DC, three brothers Jack Matt of Sedalia James of St Louis, and two sisters Mrs Molly Scruggs and Mrs Harry Hamm.
Ruhl W. Hamilton aged 59 died yesterday in Kansas City after a weeklong illness with pneumonia. He lived in Jefferson City until ten years ago and was born March 22, 1891, in Palestine Texas, son of John. He resided at 1013 Jefferson Street.
Funeral services for Henry Starrel Wood, 89, a retired Callaway county farmer, who died at his Fulton home were conducted with local relatives in attendance. The obituary notes his long farm career and his ties to Fulton community life.
