The Red Cross Society plans a meeting at 1 00 p m in the Burgner Bow sum Lumber Co room, opened for sewing work. Members and volunteers are urged to bring chairs tables sewing machines or other useful items and all subscribers becoming members. Mrs I W Scott secretary.

H. H. Sharp, who sold his hardware store to G. H. Boyer & Co., has returned to Jasper and rented the H. Hendricks house on East Grand Avenue. He intends to open a hardware store here. Township Sunday School Convention is set for Diamond Schoolhouse on Sunday, September 30, with gatherings for all WV residents.
A 1917 Jasper City Fair meeting is scheduled for Monday night September 17 at The News office. Rex, President, will chair the committees and officers session.
School opens with 171 pupils enrolled across all grades. High School 26, seventh and eighth grades 41, fifth and sixth grades 26, third and fourth grades 14, primary 22. Board praises improved interior, new paper and paint. Also reports on local crime fines and births, plus A P Selsor joining Jasper Bank as assistant cashier.

A seven room bungalow with bath rooms is nearing completion on the Armstrong place in the Lebanon community. Residents Miss Althea and Laura Armstrong and their brothers reside there. Clyde Rains is the builder and promises a modern country home when finished. The Armstrong place is noted for its Barred Plymouth Rocks shipped to the middle and western states.
John C. Cox the jeweler wed Mrs. A. C. Robertson last Tuesday at Chandler Oklahoma. He returned home the same day and his bride will follow him. they will establish a home once she arrives. Cox, once divorced from his third or fourth wife, seeks to provide a good mother for his daughter and hopes this marriage ends his matrimonial run.
