Beamer Well Drilling Reaches Granite Depth in Missouri
Col Beamer’s well at Lamar hit granite at 1900 feet ending drilling near the center of the earth. The 1600 foot water column will be pumped out after removing casing except the top 200 feet. Drill samples were sent to Rolla for analysis, promising a detailed geologic record of southwest Missouri. The project, though costly, may secure scientific fame even if oil results are modest.
