A Jasper merchant urges buying locally and showcases a two week limited stock of Ladies Cloaks up to date and cost effective. The ad promotes King Bee hot blast stoves with features to reduce fuel use and prevent ash and cinder issues. It invites customers to visit and purchase these items.
A. A. Buerge, Auctioneer, offers services with contact options. Fresh carload of soft wheat feed bran and shorts just in at Ens and Bishop's. McDaniel's Globe soft wheat and paveress hard wheat flour at Crandall Brothers.
Mr Webb and Mrs Webl and Mr Word traveled to Kansas City for a short visit. Webb bought goods for the store while companions enjoyed sights in the Kaw metropolis, including the Priest of Pallas parade. I M Byers plans a public sale of farm property 3 1/2 miles west and 1 mile south of Jasper on October 9.
Citizens of Jasper and vicinity plan a meeting at the opera house tonight to discuss organizing a street fair for 1909. Governor Hughes, a leading Republican, will pass through Jasper en route to Webb City and speak briefly at the platform. Baker and Thornton sell business to S L Curlee. Curlee to move in and run the store. Thornton to stay briefly. Stove buyers sought at the News office.
Editor Storrs reports on the Jasper street fair with Crawford’s comedies and gambling devices. The agricultural exhibit, corn display, and livestock draw interest while three days of baseball between Jasper and Springfield entertain but attendance lags. Local coal sale advertised at 10 cents per bushel by Binonan and Laer near Jasper.

J C Cartwright sold his half interest in the Tangner livery barn in Carthage to partner Henry Tangner making Tangner sole owner. Cartwright had joined Tangner last March after moving from Jasper. Purcell and his family moved to Colorado after last week's farm sale.
