In Jasper two high school teams, the Giants and the Tigers, posted decisive wins. The Giants defeated Golden City 21 to 6, while the Jasper Tigers routed a Boston-area club, securing a strong victory in front of a large crowd.
A highwayman robbed farmer Rodden near Jasper, taking 160 from his wheat cash and 18.65 in money after a gunpoint stop. The incident occurred as Rodden returned from transporting a load of wheat and he described the assault in detail. Nearby, a large fire destroyed the Cowgill Hill mill near Carthage, with the elevator saved and a 645,000 rose insured to replace the brick mill.
Land around Jasper changes hands as LC Lucas sells his 162 acre farm northwest of town for 5 an acre to a Linvis man. Chas Stonehawker acquires a 90 acre farm near the Jasper Barton county line eight miles west for 620 an acre. G D Appleby takes 125 acres and W S Wallur 10 acres three miles northwest, with Appleby aiming to buy larger nearby. Meetings at Dunkard church under Chas M Yearout conclude a successful series despite bad weather. Elder Yearout returns home. Kerns buys the old Houck place southeast of town for 600. Rathbun buys East Grand property for 600 and plans spring improvements. A Thanksgiving dinner is set at McMaslie and Houck hall on Nov 7. JW Profit moves to Western Kansas for work.
